SINGING IN THE….SHOWER – WHAT A GLORIOUS FEELING!!
Posted by Yvette on November 7th, 2011The shower is a strange place, it has the power transform an everyday bathroom into a professional recording studio, main stage at a packed out festival and even the X factor audition stage – ok, maybe not physically transform but it certainly gives dreamers the chance to deliver their career defining performance.
So why is it that many of us find ourselves unable to resist belting out those tear- jerking, melodic harmonies, just as the shampoo hits our hair?
Bathroom singing is a widespread phenomenon that has positive psychological effects on us. Singing releases endorphins – the body’s ‘feel good’ hormones – that can dramatically improve the way we’re feeling. A study based on the health of nursing home residents found that taking part in a singing programme helped significantly reduce feelings of anxiety and depression in participants.
Singing shares some of the benefits of doing physical exercise, while being less arduous. It is an aerobic exercise and so will improve blood circulation in the body by increasing oxygen intake; this tends to promote a feel good feeling. Deep breathing techniques, which play a central role in relaxing activities such as Yoga, are also used for singing, which help to relieve to body of stress and leave us feeling much happier and at ease.
Though many of us love to sing, the thought of doing so in public is terrifying. This is why the shower is one of the most common places for singing. The noise from the water is loud enough to block out most sound, leaving you with your very own, insulated and ear-pleasing environment – the perfect place to let go of any apprehension and become the next Sinatra or Shakira! The AquaNoir is the must have shower for any shower singer. Lightening up your bathroom with its illuminated controls, the AquaNoir will fashion a harmonious environment for you to deliver that killer solo performance.
Though there are undoubtedly many more reasons why shower singing is so popular, the above summarise the main reasons for us. We’re interested to know what your favourite shower songs are, let us know by answering our Facebook question!
